Patron Saint of St.Gallen
According to the legend, Gallus came to the valley of the river Steinach around 612 and fell into a thorn bush. He interpreted it as a sign from above, telling him to stay. Gallus built a cell and a house of prayer in that very spot, thus laying the foundation for the city and Canton of St.Gallen.
2012 this important historical event of Gallus' arrival will pass for the 1,400th time. A good reason to celebrate and a great time to visit St.Gallen!
